How do you pivot when your niche is not working

Featured Replies

I chose my niche a year ago and it is not gaining traction. Part of me wants to pivot. Part of me worries have not given it enough time. How do you know when to pivot versus when to persist?

I pivoted when I had 100 conversations and zero conversions. Not when I was tired. When the market clearly said no. Data first. Emotions second. Most people pivot too early based on frustration.

I give every niche six months of focused effort. If after six months I cannot articulate who I help and what result I create, I pivot. The problem is usually positioning, not niche. But sometimes it is the niche.

Pivot when you are bored, not when you are broke. Broke means fix the offer. Bored means the niche is wrong. Most people conflate the two and pivot away from fixable problems.

I pivoted three times in two years. Each pivot was closer to the right fit. Not wasted time. Market research. The niche that finally worked incorporated elements from all three previous attempts.

My "side hustle" made more than my salary in month 8. Quit my job in month 10. The leap was scary. Staying was scarier.
