My WordPress traffic doubled somehow. Is blogging actually dead?

Featured Replies

I have been blogging consistently for eight months and my traffic doubled last quarter.

Everyone keeps saying blogging is dead but my experience says otherwise. Is it actually dead or are people just doing it wrong?

Blogging is not dead. Boring blogging is dead. Most people write generic listicles that say nothing. If you have a specific point of view and actual experience, you win.

Search is changing but long form content still works if it answers a specific question better than anything else. The problem is most blogs are thin content written for algorithms, not humans.

I stopped blogging for two years and my traffic died. Started again with opinion pieces instead of how to guides and saw better engagement. The format is fine. The approach needed updating.

This gives me hope. I just started a WordPress blog and was worried I was too late. What kind of content are you writing that is working

Blogging can still earn you money, I know some people who still do it. I will tell you though, I have had a few successful blogs that fell off a cliff in 2018/2019. I think this was when Google did a massive search engine shift. My monthly traffic for both blogs went from 100k+ down to 20k in just 6 months. It continued to drop and by 2022 both blogs were completely dead.

It soured me so much I haven't even considered trying another blog again.
