Membership retention. How do you keep people past month three

Featured Replies

I run a small membership for freelancers. Growth is fine but I am losing people at month three like clockwork. What are you actually doing to keep members engaged past the honeymoon phase?

I added a monthly hot seat call and it changed everything. People stayed because they felt seen, not because of the content library. Community beats curriculum.

Look at your onboarding. Most churn happens because people never get a quick win in the first fourteen days. If they do not feel progress immediately, they mentally check out.

Be honest. Is your membership actually delivering value or is it just recurring content? If people can get the same thing for free on YouTube, they will leave.

This is so helpful. I am thinking of starting a membership and had not even considered the three month drop off. What does a good onboarding sequence look like in practice?

My "scope document" template reduced revision rounds from 4.2 to 1.8 average. One hour of prep saves six hours of rework.

The project I dreaded most paid the best. The project I loved most paid the worst. Lesson: charge for skill, not enjoyment.

Client asked for a quick logo tweak on Friday at 6 PM. I said I could look Monday. They survived. Boundaries are weirdly effective.

The project I underquoted taught me more than any course. Painful education, but education nonetheless.
