Staying motivated when you're working solo

Featured Replies

Been at this freelancing thing for a while now, some days are good just stare at my screen, no co-workers just me and my laptop with coffee.

Thinking of trying a co-working space once a week, anyone tried that?

What do you guys do when motivation runs out?

A co-working space? I can't say I ever even heard of it. I mostly just do my work at home in my free time. I work a set schedule (4 days a week as a nurse) so I am able to have 3 days where I can focus on my other projects. When I am feeling sluggish I will take my laptop to a Starbucks and work in a corner somewhere. Just a change in scenery gets my brain flowing again.

When motivation runs out, I don’t wait for it to come back..I just switch to small, easy tasks or change my environment a bit. Even a short reset helps me get back into flow.

The gap between where I am and where I want to be is just a series of uncomfortable actions. That's it.

There are places you can go for free (think coffee shops) or paid locations that allow people to work in the same area from their own devices. Some will offer computers to work from similar to what Libraries do or have done in the past.
