The Open Floor

Talk about entrepreneurship, freelancing, creator life, online business, trends, ideas, lessons learned, and anything that does not fit neatly elsewhere.

  1. A friend started the same time as me. She just hit six figures. I am at $40K. I am happy for her but I also feel like I am failing. How do you manage the comparison without letting it destroy your motivation?

  2. People often focus on ideas funding and growth but when you start a business what actually turns out to be the hardest part for you and what would you change if you could do it again

  3. I used to think success was revenue. Then I thought it was freedom. Now I am not sure. How do you actually define success in this space? Not what you post on Instagram. What you actually believe.

  4. I am still in my corporate job, freelancing on the side. Part of me wants to leap. Part of me is scared I am romanticizing entrepreneurship. When did you know it was time to leave? Was there a specific moment or was it gradual?

  5. I see creators posting from Bali, coffee shops, airport lounges. I am working from my kitchen table at 11 PM because a client needed revisions. Is the location freedom thing real or just content strategy? Be honest.

  6. Scale your business. Hustle harder. Build a personal brand. What advice gets repeated constantly but actually hurt your progress? I want to know what to ignore so I can focus on what works.

  7. If you could go back to year one, what is the one thing you would change? Not general advice. Specific mistake you made that cost you time or money. I am in my first year and trying to avoid the obvious traps.

  8. I’ve been thinking about getting into freelancing but I’m still trying to figure out what area to start with. I’m considering things like writing, social media, video editing and AI based work. Not sure if I should learn through courses first or just jump in, and whether this is a solid path for someone new

  9. Client paid 50% upfront. I delivered the first milestone. They went silent. Three weeks, no response to emails or calls. The final 50% is significant. Do you keep working, pause, or cut losses? What is the professional move here?

  10. I have been in this space for eight years and I have heard every promise. Passive income. Laptop lifestyle. Work from anywhere. What is the biggest myth you bought into and how did reality differ?

  11. Different eras had their own popular styles and habits in fashion, food, technology, and culture. If you could revive something from an earlier time and see it return today, what would you choose, and what makes it special enough to bring back?

  12. I am talking about places like YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms that allow for video posting. I want to compile a list and do some experimenting with a few sites I have and see if I can replicate some virality and boost traffic using the same or similar trends to the big platforms.

  13. I hope this is the right section to ask. I have been trying to figure it out and I can't. I have even asked AI and it just gives basic answers that I have already read a hundred times online before. I am not talking about shorts either. I mean videos that are like 5+ minutes in length. Some get so much traction it is insane. Is it luck? Is there a secret to cracking the algorithm?

  14. Started by johnnykipp,

I have a few ideas for a channel that I think will do well. Some people have told me to go with Rumble over YouTube as I would have an easier time gaining an audience. My issue is that Rumble seems to be mostly politics. Like 70% of the content on there. I don't know if this is because they give it a push or what. My niche would be in gaming and I don't see very many gamers on Rumble getting good numbers. Should I just stick with YouTube or should I try Rumble first?

  15. I am burned out. Not tired. Burned out. Everything feels heavy. But I cannot quit. Bills, clients, commitments. How do you recover when taking a month off is not an option?

  17. I am curious about actual routines, not Instagram versions. What do you do in the first two hours that sets up your day? I am struggling with consistency and need realistic inspiration.

  18. I am launching my first real product next month and every day I convince myself nobody will buy. My brain says who am I to teach this. How do you actually manage imposter syndrome when real money is on the line?

  19. I have been working on my business for eight months. Revenue is inconsistent. Some months great. Some months terrible. How do you maintain motivation when the results do not match the effort?

  20. I noticed in the last few years I have had a sharp decline in clients. I was once working with 5 to 10 people at any given time and now I am down to only having 2 regulars and and extra person every now and then. It sucks because I know my work is good and people are always satisfied with it. But I guess free is better and people would rather just us AI to generate the content. One of the things I offered was product descriptions. I don't have any clients for that anymore at all. I know this has to do with AI but I can't compete with it. You can't really compete with something that is free! Has anyone else noticed AI impacting their freelance work?

  21. From the outside, it seems like content creators grow fast..launching side businesses, getting brand deals, and even buying homes in a few years. Has anyone here actually tried it? Curious to know what it’s really like behind the scenes.

  22. Been at this freelancing thing for a while now, some days are good just stare at my screen, no co-workers just me and my laptop with coffee. Thinking of trying a co-working space once a week, anyone tried that? What do you guys do when motivation runs out?

  23. I have built a business that pays my bills and gives me freedom. But I feel guilty for not wanting more. Everyone says scale, grow, build an empire. Is it okay to just maintain what I have?

  24. I know YouTube has changed a lot over the years. It was once a space where people just uploaded videos as a hobby, then it turned into a career or business, now it is a bit of both but it seems much harder to actually start a YouTube channel that earns. I have a few ideas for channels I think could do well. I am not looking to become rich or anything but have passive income via my channel. I know you need to get a certain amount of subscribers and views before you qualify to become a partner. What else should I know heading into this?

  25. Every time I think of a business idea, it either feels oversaturated or not useful enough. Lately, I've been trying to focus on spotting everyday problems, but it's hard to tell which ones are worth turning into a business. How do you identify opportunities that have real potential instead of just sounding good on paper
