Realized I was selling features, not outcomes

Featured Replies

Took me way too long to figure that my landing page listed everything my thing could do. Thought more features and more value.

Then I rewrote everything around one simple question: what changes for the person who buys this?

Cut the feature list in half, led with the result instead and conversions went up. Still catch myself slipping back into feature mode sometimes though some old habits.

Who else have the "but what if they need to know it also does X" debate with themselves?

I noticed offering less but higher quality is almost always more. You can see this in all forms of business too. The most successful small businesses focus on one set of things they offer at great quality and it really helps to boost customers/traffic/sales.

Tracked my hourly rate across 3 years. Flat rate projects averaged $95/hr. Hourly billed at $75. Efficiency penalty is real.

My writing rate doubled when I stopped calling myself a "freelance writer" and started calling myself a "conversion copywriter." Words matter.

My minimum project size is now $1,500. Anything under gets referred out. Protects my time and my sanity.
