It seems like it is mostly a trend that has phased out. I like the idea of making a silly/funny outro but I feel like most people would just ignore it and skip it or even find it off-putting because it isn't the norm on YouTube anymore. Should I avoid doing these in videos?

Only one channel I watch does an outro and it is a comedy style channel. The outro is quick, simple, and silly. It is the same every time and just recommends other videos.

Don't worry too much about chasing trends right now because those always change. Focus on building your content and building your community around what your viewers enjoy.

I think it is more important to do what you enjoy and what you would watch. If you make content you'd enjoy watching, there is a good chance there are a number of people out there that would enjoy it too. If you like intros and outros, use them.

The first 10 to 30 seconds are very important. You want to draw people in.So I would say that outros are fine, even longer ones (up to 20 seconds) but you have to be careful with intros. Keep them short, very short.
