Are ebooks still worth it or am I just bad at marketing

Featured Replies

I keep hearing that ebooks are dead. That nobody reads them anymore. But I see people still selling them. Are they actually worth creating in 2026 or is the market completely saturated?

I sell a $27 ebook as a front end offer and it funds most of my ad spend. It is not dead. It is just not a business model on its own anymore. It is a door opener.

Ebooks work when they solve a specific pain in a specific niche. The problem is most people write a general guide about their topic and wonder why nobody buys. Narrower is better.

I use mine as a credibility tool, not a revenue tool. It sits on my site and gets me coaching inquiries. Direct sales are low but the leads are warm.

I wrote one last year and sold three copies. Felt like a failure. But hearing that it works as a door opener makes me think I positioned it wrong, not that the format is dead.

I think it depends on the niche. People still buy them. I have a friend that runs his own health blog, forum, and online shop. He offers 5 different e-books. I think they are all $10 and all focus on health, weight loss, and things of that nature. He does very well for himself. I think last we talked about it he said he averaged 20 e-book sales a week. That is $800+ a month just from his e-books which is impressive!

Service vs product? I do audits (service) and templates (product). The combo keeps cash flow steady and scalable.
