I'm considering WordPress for my business website, but I'm unsure if the extra setup, maintenance, updates, and learning curve are worth it. For a simple business site, would platforms like Webflow or Squarespace be a better and easier choice?

The ecosystem is fragmented, and Webflow felt cleaner than WordPress.

WordPress, as far as I know, still ranks better than Webflow and Squarespace but Squarespace is a lot easier to work with. I don't have much experience with Webflow to tell you about it but I have played around with Squarespace and overall, I found it way less time consuming to get a website up and running.

I noticed this. I actually enjoy Squarespace's platform but WordPress still has a hold over them in terms of ranking. I think they have just been around a lot longer and have legacy credibility with Google and other search engines.

Squarespace isn't new. They were founded in 2004. I just think most people didn't hear about them until into the 2010s. Wordpress on the other hand was founded just one year prior. So it shouldn't have anything to do with this.

I think this depends on what sort of website you want or intend on building. WordPress makes it fairly easy, especially when you choose the right theme and plugins.

That being said, if it is a site you intend on changing the look of a lot, as time goes on this can become a nightmare on WordPress.

I have used WordPress for YEARS for my blogs and never had an issue with it. I find that it makes it easier for me. I stick to the same plugins and make sure I update them as needed. I also never use any plugins that could end up being abandoned, that is where a lot of people run into issues.

That is wild! I had no idea they were around that long. I didn't start hearing about them until like maybe 10 years ago. I just assumed they were a newer or newish company. They are over 20 years old though!
