Which WordPress Plugins are best for web store?

Featured Replies

I decided to use WordPress moving forward since it is free and I am able to understand it having worked with it previously.

I am just not sure which web store plugin is best. There seems to be more than I remembered. I won't be selling physical items to start. They are digital.

Does anyone have experience with running a shop through WordPress and can recommend me the best plugin for the job?

I haven't used WordPress in 5 or so years at this point so there might be something newer/better but when I was using it, WooCommerce was still considered the best. And at the time it was also free so I would imagine it still is.

If you want to manage inventory across multiple sites and socials, then look at Ecwid. I used that a number of times when selling things through my sites and loved being able to track what I had left and allowing people to know what was still in stock without having to manage a tone of different sites.

WooCommerce is still the go-to for most people and it'll handle digital products just fine out of the box. You can upload files, set download limits, and it integrates with most payment gateways.

But if you want lighter, Easy Digital Downloads builted specifically for digital products. Less bloat than WooCommerce, fewer settings to wade through, and it does exactly what you need without all the extra shipping and inventory features you won't use.

Both are free to start. Try EDD first since you're not touching physical items. You'll thank yourself later when you're not digging through shipping settings you don't need.

WooCommerce

This is still the best option for what you get and it is free. So a lot of people use it and have success with it.

I used it myself for many years and I have no regrets. The only thing better I have found was getting a custom webstore coded for me.

I will check out there three. I know WooCommerce is the most popular but it is a pretty hefty plugin. Either way, I appreciate the info. If anyone knows of any other ones I should look into, let me know.
