Can paid traffic help?

Featured Replies

So as I mentioned in my intro thread, both of my blogs saw a loss of 90% of their traffic.

Someone suggested that I pay for traffic to help boost them again and have them rank higher in search engine results. I am just not sure how this works or if this is even correct. My blogs were grown organically and took nearly 5 years to earn what they were and sustain the traffic they were getting.

Anyways, is this something that can actually help or is it not worth it?

It doesn't directly improve organic search rankings. I want to start with saying that because I think people are confused by what paid traffic is actually for.

So it will not help in this case and it would not be worth spending time or money on.

Paid traffic is fine for new sites but not established ones. You won't get any benefit from it. I think paying for social media account boosting is more worth it. Maybe set up some socials for your blogs and try boosting those.

This is a fantastic idea. I am thinking of trying this now. I feel like boosting socials is better than attempting to improve traffic to your site this route. It doesn't seem to do anything if you pay for traffic directly to your site but making your socials seem bigger than they are would encourage people to your site for sure.

This is the main reason people want it as well, it just doesn't do that. It used to be useful for new sites but I don't even think it helps all that much with those either.

I am sure there are some use cases for it but this isn't one of them, at least not anymore.

Paid traffic doesn't do much IMO. Like others have mentioned, you are better off building up socials if you want to spend money on something like this. You can at least redirect traffic you gain there through posts back to your website.

Okay, so I just want to say thank you to everyone. I have decided to not try this. It doesn't make sense to based one everything people said here and what I have found online on other sites. I am just glad I asked as I would have been wasting time and money!

I think it once did help boost things but know that search engines separate bots from actual real traffic, it almost seems like it would do more harm than good.

Did you try it yet? Curious to see how it went for you. I am heard that there are some changes on X with the algorithm and it might be worth doing it there. I am not entirely sure how it works there though but I do know they default boost you if you are verified.

No, Not yet! I have not gotten around to it. I wonder what has changed on X though. I will look into that more. I know there have been complaints that the platform was getting "ruined" do to a bad algorithm but it never seemed bad to me.
