I stopped using it around 2015 I think it was because it was becoming too political. I moved over to Facebook as a means to talk to people online as well as for business purposes. I was able to get a small successful business built off a Facebook page but after Covid hit, it tanked. I stopped bringing in revenue through it. I am not sure if I should continue with Facebook for future plans or try X. I heard you can earn revenue on the platform as well which would be helpful.

I don't see very many people using X for small businesses anymore because the algorithm seems to favor other things. At least in my experience. I am still going to attempt to make use of it though.

You can get a good mix that way. I never tell people to limit their socials. Even if one works better than the other, having multiple accounts helps to build trust, traffic, and generate the concept of your website or business being authentic.

It is mostly localized which doesn't help.On 6/15/2026 at 9:27 AM, ChrisWP said:Why not both? You can get a good mix that way. I never tell people to limit their socials. I will see what is available today and make an X account for it. I am considering a rebrand of the name though so I have to decide on that first.

A lot of local businesses thrive on there because it helps people find things in their area. Plus, if you run ads you can also target your own location and people in the surrounding areas.

You don't want to rebrand and then decide you don't like it a few months from now and have to change all your social accounts again.

I am going to make a plan for this all this weekend. I actually have 2 extra days off. I got one given to me for the 4th of July and took an extra day. I want to get all this sorted and get to work.

I have tried to boost traffic through it and even tried to earn on the platform itself but it seems like you need to have the right niche and the right amount of growth or nothing comes of it. I did run some ads before (you need an account for this) and it did boost a few of my sites but it didn't get me any lasting numbers.

I don't really use social media so I am not sure.Maybe I should have been using it, my blogs could have done better from what I was reading online.

There are groups and stuff on X and celebrities. But not so much anymore. Not as active as it all once was. It really is mostly news and politics.

It seems more about being a social news hub than anything else which sucks. I think the concept of it earlier on was great. But it seems like most social platforms like this swing too hard into politics. Even that newer one, Bluesky I think it is called, that is overly political too. Hardly seems worth using any of these places unless you are running a bigger business.

I enjoyed the old Twitter, X is fine though but it is the engagement. Everything is forced politics.
