I am working on a new site and need a logo for it. I usually make one myself or hire someone to make one for me but it seems like people are charging a lot more these days for logos. I am considering using AI and seeing what it could come up with but I don't know if this is a good or bad idea.

I don't think there is anything wrong with doing this but you have to make sure the logo it gives you isn't too close to someone else's. I remember hearing a story about a guy that used AI to make a name and logo for his business and the AI ripped off an already established company, so he got sued for it. It could be just one of those fake internet stories but you never know!

Can AI do these well now? Last time I tried was maybe 3 or 4 years ago and they were all terrible. lol

Maybe things have changed now. I will have to see what it can do. I would imagine paid ones are better than free.

If you know what you are doing, yes. Absolutely. I still prefer to hire people for stuff like this because nothing beats a human's eye or touch when it comes to graphic work. You can still tell when something is AI generated. At least I can.

I don't think most people would notice if you did so if you are worried about that, don't be.

That being said, you will know. And I am not sure if you want to direct something a human can do (usually better) to AI which actually takes concepts and work from people to compile its own.

Someone I talk to on another forum mentioned this. He said most people over the age of 55 can't tell the difference between something that is AI and something that is not. Even the poorly edited stuff. It is because they did not spend a lot of their younger years online. In contrast, people 25 and younger struggle with it too because they grew up on tablets and phones as well as social media. They are easier to deceive.

I don't think it is a big deal if you use AI. You can also generate some ideas to bring to someone too. So you can feel better about it being made by human hands. I personally don't see an issue with using it for things like this.

Yeah, see! I think you will be fine with using it. Just go based on what you get. If you like the results of what AI makes for you, then use it. I doubt anyone is going to care or make a stink about a logo. People tend to be upset about AI when it comes to stealing creative work like art style, voice, animation, etc.
